Please tell me that you guys watched that Packers game yesterday… I can say, now that they’ve won, that it was an entertaining game but omg I didn’t think they were going to pull it off! Also, kudos to the fan who did this… 😉

And speaking of football, I also love this meme (Belichick pics make the best memes):

Anyways, on to the weekend!

I had a pretty low-key Friday night as I was gearing up for the Allina Health Autumn Woods Classic 10k on Saturday morning. The plan was to run 10 miles before the race and end up with 16 for the day. I woke up and wasn’t feeling 100%, so went back to bed for a few hours and figured I’d just tack it on after the race.

I’ll have a full recap up later, but I swear I am never running the 10k distance again… I would much rather run a marathon any day! I know this is partially because I’m not fully recovered from the ultra just yet, but man, it was brutal. I had some high hopes for a great racing day, but it turned out to be quite the dud.

My hamstrings were hurting like crazy afterwards; they almost felt like right after the ultra — so I opted for a two-mile cool down run instead of hitting 10 miles.

I hate these running days, but honestly, I think they are just part of training. You can’t have the good without the bad, and I think these training days teach us that we aren’t superhuman… and also help build us up mentally and physically.

With that being said, I do have an important race coming up… the Monumental Indianapolis Marathon.

I am not quite sure what I want to do with this race yet. I would love to PR and get that BQ out of the way early, but are my legs going to be ready for that? I only have a few weeks to train to get them faster again (since I think the ultra really did steal my speed), and I’m not quite sure what is reasonable. Because yes, I agree that you need to aim high, but aiming too high can set you up for failure… and that would feel even worse than the flop of a run that was this weekend.

P.S. Congrats to everyone who finished the Chicago Marathon! I’ve heard from multiple people that it was a TOUGH day, so congrats on getting it done. And holy cats, how about Galen Rupp and Jordan Hasay? Rockstars!
