I can’t believe that it’s already been nearly two months since I was in Canada… it’s starting to feel like forever ago! And I still have a lot of recapping to do for some of the awesome hikes that we did while we were there. In case you missed it, here are the recaps I’ve done thus far:
I had heard that Lake Louise was one of the spots we HAD to go to while we were in Canada; and luckily, it was pretty much on our way to Golden from Calgary. We had planned to drop in at Lake Louise on our way in, but added in Moraine Lake at the last minute… so didn’t have much time to visit Lake Louise before it got too dark — but I think we had the amount of time that we needed.
So the cool thing, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are super close together, so it’s easy to hit both at one time. Since we were later in the day, it wasn’t too busy — this is definitely one of the most popular areas to visit while in Banff National Park, so they run shuttles to get there throughout the day.
And I think it’s obvious why! It’s absolutely gorgeous:
(I love this picture of us, but you can’t tell where we are hahah):
The hike itself isn’t strenuous — you are on a mostly paved road, that goes into a gravel road, and I think the walk was less than a few miles. I absolutely love how beautiful the Chateau Lake Louise looked backdropping the lake in the dusk:
There are a few trails that you can take to venture off the beaten path of Lake Louise, but we opted to stick to the main trail. The lake is absolutely beautiful, so I definitely recommend seeing in person because the pictures don’t do it justice. However, I couldn’t see spending more than an hour here (especially given some of the other hikes in the area).
Have you ever been to Lake Louise in Canada? What did you think?
