This month has been a strange one; I’ve been traveling for work for the past nine days and I can’t really even remember what happened for the first few weeks of the month. Why does time insist on going by so fast? I can’t even keep up!

Even so, I feel like this year is starting off on the right foot and this month has been filled with some solid adventures:

A trip to see my favorite falls in Minneapolis…

Ice fishing fun!

Going to the roller derby (so fun, so random)

I got in an awesome winter run with Jen

…spent some time cuddling with Apollo:

A HUGE winter snowstorm (I hope we have more coming our way!!)

Travels back to Wisconsin for family, running…

and ice fishing!

A really long work trip, that included adventures in Houston…

…which meant indulging on an old favorite (Torchy’s Tacos)…

…and rounded out the trip with some time in Louisville (where I am through tomorrow!)

And let’s chat about the running a little bit… I absolutely struggled with running this month, and I’m not quite sure why. It could be the cold weather. Maybe being super busy at work. Or maybe I’m just making up excuses. Either way, it’s nothing like last January — where I rocked out 170+ miles.

But, I am still super happy with my mileage: I rounded out the month with 114.83 miles! This is solid, and I love the momentum I’ve gained in the past few weeks so I hope that continues into February. Fingers crossed.

UPDATE ON MY GOALS

A new year means a fresh slate with some new goals! A lot of my goals are similar to last year (with some new ones!). Here’s an update on how I’m progressing on them (31 days into 2018!):

1. TRY SOMETHING NEW EVERY MONTH

This is one of my favorite goals from last year and it’s SO fun to have some new adventures to try out! This month, I went to my first roller derby! You can read the full recap HERE

2. READ 15 BOOKS IN 2018

Last year, I read 12 books so naturally, I bumped it up to 15 books for 2018. I am on track so far… I finished reading You Need a Budget (which is such a great transition to my next goal…). Anyways, check out my full review HERE.

3. GET MY AGE OF MONEY TO 60 DAYS

Last yera, I had a goal to get my age of money up to 45 days and I was oh-so close at the end of the year. I have a bit of a ways to go to get my age of money up to 60 days. Right now, I’m at 27 days… so I have some work to do! (Curious what I’m talking about? Read my thoughts on YNAB HERE.)

4. GO FOR A MARATHON PR AT THE PHILADELPHIA MARATHON

Well, this won’t be happening until later this year… but I do know that registration opens in a few weeks! Anyone else planning on running this race?

5. GO FOR A MILE PR

This race won’t be happening until May, but registration does open TOMORROW! I can’t forget to register… because I don’t think I want to travel anywhere just to run one mile. 🙂

BONUS GOAL: GET A BIGGER MUSKY 🙂

Last year I caught Mitch and the musky fishing bug. This can’t happen until this summer, so until then… I’ll ice fish. 🙂

There you have it! What are you goals for the year? How did you do in January?

What are you looking forward to in February?
