Hi guys! First, I just want to say a big THANK YOU for stopping by and checking out my blog. Love you all!
Top 10 lists are always fun, so here’s one to learn a little bit about me.
1. I’m Lora, a 30-something-year-old who lives in Minneapolis, MN by way of Austin, TX Brooklyn, NY; St. Augustine, FL; and Minneapolis, MN (once before) from Iola, WI, a tiny town in the middle of the great state of Wisconsin.
I know, I have not shown the west enough love in my living adventures in the U.S. 😉
2. I love running. So much that I really don’t know how to explain it.
I originally started running to lose weight (I was a chubby kid) and eventually fell in love with the sport. I started running marathons in 2006 and never looked back. My current PR is 3:31.19 from Grandma’s Marathon in June 2016.
3. I love running for the mental/physical aspects, but also, because of the awesome community!
I have met so many great people through running, and continue to build relationships in my life through running.
To help share my love for running, I am a Road Runners Club of America certified running coach. I also contribute to sites like Plum Deluxe and Livestrong about topics related to running. Have I mentioned that I love talking about running? SERIOUSLY. Want to chat about it? I’m there. Email me.
4. Something else I love? The Packers.
5. I’m a bit of a crazy cat lady.
But they are the best kinda animals so it’s OK to be crazy about them. At least that’s what I tell myself. You will see my boys (Apollo and Jax) make an appearance throughout this blog.
6. I am an inspirational quote junkie.
The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? 🙂 If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see this in action. I’m not sorry. Reading someone else’s words does an amazing job at explaining how I feel in a situation and at the same time, makes me feel a little bit better about said situation that I’m not alone.
7. I also love to crochet and knit (kinda the opposite of running!).
After PRing in 2010 at the ING New York City Marathon, I treated myself to a class to learn how to knit and later learned how to crochet. It’s super relaxing in a different way than running… plus I get to make junk fun things for my family and friends.
8. I LOVE to travel!
If you can’t tell by #1, I like to explore and live somewhat of a nomadic life. Thus far, I’ve been to some odd destinations — like Tokyo, Australia and Iceland. Future dream countries to visit include Germany, Norway, Italy, South Africa… seriously, the list goes on and on.
9. Being spontaneous and random is kinda my thing.
I love trying new things, going to new places, eating new foods… and I love sharing all of that with you guys! This year, I’ve committed to trying one new thing a month, so stay tuned for all of the new adventures I’ll try out because of that!
10. My number one goal = happiness
I love my 30s so far because I’ve learned to become a little bit more selfish and a little bit less willing to sacrifice things for other people (who don’t necessarily deserve that sacrifice). All I want out of this crazy ride called life is happiness. This blog talks about everything and anything that contributes to my happiness, with a lot of it being from my running adventures!
